This fitting guide provides a general overview of the installation methods commonly used across the Carbon Noire range. Exact fitting steps can vary depending on the product, vehicle, and application.

For general installation guidance, please refer to the information below.

Professional installation is strongly recommended, particularly for larger exterior parts, lighting upgrades, and products involving drilling, wiring, OEM clips, or replacement mounting points.

Before you begin

Before starting any installation, we recommend the following:

  • Check compatibility carefully before fitting
  • Inspect the part before installation and do not begin fitting if anything appears incorrect
  • Test fit the part before removing tape backing, drilling, or tightening fixings
  • Clean and degrease the mounting area thoroughly
  • Use masking tape where needed to help mark alignment before final fitting
  • Have a second person available for larger parts such as splitters, diffusers, side skirts, and other larger exterior pieces

Adhesive-backed exterior parts

Some products are fitted using automotive adhesive tape or bonding methods, depending on the part and application. The fitting surface should always be clean, dry, and free from polish, wax, tar, residue, or other contaminants before installation.

Once the part has been test fitted and aligned, remove the tape backing gradually rather than all at once, keeping the part correctly positioned as you go. Apply firm, even pressure across the full mounting area to help achieve a secure bond.

Where appropriate, gentle warmth can help improve adhesion, but excessive heat should always be avoided. After fitting, allow adequate time for the bond to settle properly before putting the part under unnecessary stress.

Screw-mounted aero parts

Splitters, side skirts, diffusers, and other aero parts may use self-tapping screws, bolts, or additional fixings depending on the design. These parts should always be aligned carefully before drilling or securing.

Where masking tape is used to hold the part in place during alignment, confirm the position from multiple angles before continuing. If pre-drilled holes or fixing points are present, they should be used as intended. Where drilling is required, take care to confirm clearance and positioning before starting.

Using all suitable fixing points will help achieve the most secure fitment.

OEM replacement and clipped parts

Some products are designed to replace the original part and may use OEM clips, tabs, or factory mounting points. This can apply to items such as mirror covers, diffusers, and selected trim components.

In these cases, the original part may need to be removed first before the new part is aligned and secured. Take care not to force clips, tabs, or mounting points during removal or installation. Once fitted, check that all edges, gaps, and mounting points sit evenly before reassembly is complete.

Lighting and wiring upgrades

Lighting upgrades and any products involving wiring, soldering, crimping, control modules, or electrical connections should be installed with care. Because fitting methods can vary significantly between vehicles and products, professional installation is strongly recommended for these upgrades.

After fitting

Once installed, check that the part is secure before driving. It is also good practice to recheck the fitment after the first few drives to make sure everything remains properly seated and secure.

Looking after your parts

Use suitable car care products only and avoid aggressive chemicals or unsuitable cleaners that may affect the finish over time.
